Snapshot Saturday July 30

Snapshot Saturday is hosted by Alyce @ At Home With Books.

The Granary Burying Grounds in Boston, a little north-ish of Boston Commons. I love old cemeteries. They are my favorite sort of art museums. There are some fantastic sculptures to be found among memorials.

The second is the marker for Mary Goose. Some people think she is the basis for Mother Goose, but there is no evidence to support that.

I've been working on getting my Boston pictures set up in a nifty gallery, so if anyone is interested, they will be able to look through at their own speed, once it's ready.

Those are great! I love looking at old cemeteries too. Around here though most of the cemeteries are outside of the town, so it involves a drive. I haven't been to the one near where we live now.

I love old cemeteries too, especially the ones in small towns. It's a history lesson of sorts as I speculate about the lives of the former residents.

There's so many stories in old cemeteries - I love looking at the markers to see the history given on really old ones. In my area there's a church cemetery with really old markers that tell which county in Ireland the person is from.

Oh wow, those look really old. I love the designs etched in the Mary Goose one, so pretty and weathered.

New England has the best cemeteries and Boston's are perfectly spooky - I love visiting Boston each year and taking a walk through these areas!

Yup this one is one of the oldest in Boston (supposed to be the third oldest cemetery in Boston if fact on Wikipedia is correct). We don't have any that old out in this part of California, so I was a happy camper.

Natalie, it was great. I think I visited at least one cemetery every day I was there. I just wished I had the time to get to Sleepy Hollow in Concord
